My family and I live on the border of Leicestershire and Rutland in some of England’s finest countryside.
As a shooting man I’ve owned a Labrador most of my adult life but it wasn’t until the year 2000 that I first ran in a field trial. That first dog ‘Highrange Moss’ was exceptional despite me. I won a novice trial with him and then won the first open trial I ran in. After that I was hooked on trialing.
Since then I have won trials with 9 other dogs and have, in the process, 'made up' 3 Field Trial Champions; ‘FTCh Levenghyl Bee of Featherfly’ (Todd) winning 10 trials, 'FTCh Waterford Harris of Featherfly' (Max) winning 4 trials, and FTCh Mistigris Finn of Featherfly (Finn) winning 5 trials to-date.
I have also qualified for 9 International Gundog League (IGL) Retriever Championships in that time.
My wife and I currently own six dogs and all are our pets as well as working dogs. When I’m not training or trialing I pick up on three local shoots 2/3 times per week in the shooting season.
We are both involved on the committee of the Leicestershire Gundog Society. My wife Kay is the membership Secretary and I am Field Trial Secretary. I am an ‘A’ panel Kennel Club judge for retrievers regularly judging field trials and working tests here in the Uk and abroad. I am also a representative for two local clubs on the Kennel Club Field Trial Liaison Council.
